Patrick's Peanut Butter Pie

Patrick's Peanut Butter Pie

If ever there was to be a joyous union between peanut butter, chocolate, and your waist size, this pie should be the means to such an end. Hidden deep within the recipe tomes of one Patrick Wait, this confection has grown in infamy and splendor ever since it was first tasted by the masses. A pie so good that it best travels in pairs (make two). And now, ladies and gentlemen, I give to you Patrick's Peanut Butter Pie.

Ingredients

Cooking Directions

  1. Drizzle chocolate sauce across bottom of pie crust.
  2. Combine powdered sugar and peanut butter with fork in medium bowl until blended; place evenly in bottom of pie crust.
  3. Place milk and sour cream in large bowl. Add pudding mix and beat with wire whisk or electric mixer for 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened. Place bowl in refrigerator.
  4. Crush/chop up 4 of the peanut butter cups.
  5. Pour half of the filling over the peanut butter/powdered sugar mixture. Sprinkle crushed peanut butter cups over filling. Top with remaining filling.
  6. Spread whipped topping over filling.
  7. Crush/chop up the remaining four peanut butter cups and sprinkle over whipped topping.
  8. Refrigerate for 3 to 6 hours or overnight.

Bryan and I's experience when making this pie was a positive one; the ingredients were simple and easy to come by. However, be careful when purchasing your graham cracker crust. We went with Keebler's when we did this and found their crusts weak and unable to withstand the rigors of their own flipping existence!. They crumbled at the slightest touch and even mentioning them by name caused a shift in structural integrity. Other than that, the pies came out wonderful! There is one final warning I'd like to offer, however.

Take heart, faithful reader. This pie does not come without perils. By casting such a powerful culinary spell you forever bind yourself to the request and responsibility of its presence at a variety of social events. You may even find that your attendance is requested strictly because of it. However, if you find yourself receiving invitations addressed directly to "Peanut Butter Pie and Guest", feel free to put your foot down.
